Computer Training for Senior Citizens- CTS
CTS is a service learning program at RPCC sponsored by Computer Club. Several Faculty and students from RPCC participate in this program. Each student is teamed with a senior citizen. The students interview the senior citizens and survey them on their existing skill sets. A customized training is built for each senior citizen based upon their need and skill level. The following concepts were covered during the session: Keyboarding, search strategies on the Internet, searching for you tube videos, finding directions using Google maps, basic Word Processing including inserting audio, video and formatting documents. 3d technology using color code software was demoed during the workshop along with a demo of the smart board. The senior citizens were provided links to a How to manual on computer concepts. Seniors were engaged in a bingo game with computer terminology. The seniors were presented with a certificate of participation. This program will promote bridging of academic, community and service learning.
